13 DAYS of HALLOWEEN: Day 13!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!

This morning, our little girl became a beautiful butterfly, just like last year!
First, her daddy helped her get dressed in front of the mirror and she practiced flapping her wings!

Then she had to go eat breakfast to store up some energy to watch the Children's House Parade (ages 3-5). What a FACE miss Sloan!

Sloan arrives to school just in time to walk over with her classmates to watch the parade. Since I was going with them, I let Sloan walk with me rather than ride in the stroller with her friends, this allowed Sloan freedom to roam once we got there. You can see some of her friends feet behind her. Sloan sat on the curb and intently watched the parade.

I thought for a second she was going to take off and join the big kids, but she stuck to the space between the curb and my legs! Another child's parents remarked on what a good listener Sloan was and even her teacher Miss Bridget said that Sloan gets a GOLD STAR for listening! I am one PROUD MAMA!

13 DAYS of HALLOWEEN: Day 12!

Phew! We have almost made it. I must say the idea was much better in theory than in practice, as most ideas are! We even have costumes to spare BUT the weather dropped drastically these past few days

I had to leave the house early this morning, so Sloan was dressed by 7:15 (we usually get dressed at 8:30 AFTER breakfast). Today Sloan is not just a cat, but a BLACK cat with eyes that GLOW in the dark!

Sloan is making her scariest cat face !
Then she is saying, LOOK at the eyes! She really likes to point at the cat's face on her shirt

My cute little black cat is missing a tail!
Sloan put her own socks on this morning (i had to turn them around) but she was able to get them halfway onto her foot with minimal guidance. My baby is growing up. Sloan dressed in layers today because it is dramatically colder than it has been. She even put on her new Geox boots that are a few sizes too big, so she was only allowed to wear them until she left for school. Apparently that did NOT go over well, and of course I don't blame her, the boots are incredibly warm and comfy.
sticking her tongue out!

This morning, Rick sent me a text while I was teaching a class to let me know that Sloan said, MEOW! He tried to capture it on video but it was a one time performance. Sloan is like that. Doesn't like to perform for you, but will rather laugh when you try to coax it out of her and often does the opposite.

Tomorrow Sloan will wear TWO costumes, ONE for school, and the other for Trick or Treating.
I hope you have enjoyed these past 12 days as much as we have!

13 DAYS of HALLOWEEN: Day 11!

My little girl is a super hero! Day 11 started out in style, pajamas and CAPE!  Hurricane Sandy blew in some FREEZING winds and rain (not to be confused with freezing rain). There are even talks of SNOW in some parts of the region!

We finally got dressed. After our LONG weekend, we really needed some rest so we were off to a slow start this morning. I would have to say she is Super Hero of LOVE!
If the pictures are blurry, it's because she is moving quicker than lightening!

13 DAYS of HALLOWEEN: Days NINE and TEN!

We had a very busy weekend.
On Friday, Sloan and her daddy had a date while i went to get a hair cut.
On Saturday, Sloan had her friends over for a costume party. She woke up and wore her purple Pixie costume and played in her sand "box" while she waited for her friends to arrive. The leaves are really falling quickly here, as Sloan pointed out...

Here is a group shot of Sloan and her friends: Avery, Oscar, Aarnavi, Jake, and Curley (that's the bear i got for my first Christmas from my Papaw)

After the party, we had lunch, and then Sloan took a nap while Rick and i watched football. After nap, we made a huge leaf pile in the backyard, and let Sloan dive in.  I'll share those tomorrow (or soon). Sloan and I then went inside to make some "leaf art" since it was on our list, though I'm not really sure what that means or why i left that, so we did our best and made some "art" from leaves. We also attempted to decorate Jack, the pumpkin, but every time we glued the eyes or colored balls to him, Sloan would take them off. Maybe next year.

Saturday evening, after Sloan went to bed, Rick and i went out for a date! We had TWO costume parties to attend, so we went to the first, then the next.

In case this needs explaining, I was a bond girl, and Rick was James Bond. Owning your own Tux comes in handy for Halloween (and Gala events). Both parties were a lot of fun and it was nice to go on a real date (another check off the list). It felt SO weird paying our babysitter! I made so much money in high school and college babysitting, i guess it is now time to pay it forward!

Sunday morning, Sloan and I went to church. Her costume on Sunday was, "MOMMY". I'm serious. She dressed like me! We wore our striped dresses with bows on the shoulder and leggings!

After church we made a pit stop to the FIRE STATION to install a new car seat! Sloan had a BLAST and made a new friend! Sloan also wore her new sparkly pink shoes today (one sock on, one sock off).

So in case MOMMY isn't a costume, I think she made a pretty cute FIRE FIGHTER! She sure did make an impression!

13 DAYS of HALLOWEEN: Day EIGHT!

I forgot to sing this entire week, so if you'll excuse me, let me resume:

On the Eighth Day of Halloween, Sloan aspires to be...
A peace loving, little Hippie....

This morning was just one of those mornings. The sky was foggy, the weather was cool, the air was moist, and Sloan just did NOT want to cooperate with anything unless it meant hanging on to mommy for dear life. She did the toddler flop several times, you know the one right? go to pick her up and the body suddenly becomes made out of spaghetti. Yup, that's my girl. Strong Willed and Stubborn. Which is good. It will benefit her in the future as it has me, but it will challenge her parents, teachers, and coaches to no end. I can assure you of this!
In the spirit of the costume, my peace loving hippie did NOT want to get dressed, as you can see, her clothes are strewn about. Clothes are for conformists she says! She made me work for the money today!

Lets just say that her attitude fit in with her costume today. She was merely performing a "Sit In" to protest getting in the car seat and riding to school (though she DID have a good jam to Thriller on the way once she got over being in the car - see my video on Facebook)

Here are the few shots i got today: Her face pretty much explains it all.

13 DAYS of HALLOWEEN: Day SEVEN!

Day Seven we have Tropical Barbie! If you had seen my barbie dolls, you'd realize this was how they looked after I discovered scissors!  I told you I was stretching it! But this is MY GAME!

Barbie Blows Kisses!

Sloan really enjoys sitting on this foot stool for her rocking chair. She is often pushing it back and forth and singing,  "ROCK ROCK, ROCK ROCK"
And if you are not convinced of this being a costume, here is a Glow in the Dark Halloween T-shirt!

In other news, we took a quick trip to Target to get a spider yesterday. During the trip, we also discovered a beautiful headband! She also gave her best blue steel look.

Upon returning home, Sloan took a hair band and tried to put it over her hair, likely because she sees me doing this, so I gave her a FIRST PONYTAIL, though i'd consider it more of a whale spout!

We also selected a pumpkin from the "pumpkin patch" at target. Sloan picked the biggest one.
There WAS a pumpkin patch at the corn maze a few weeks ago but our tired girl never made it, so we improvised and I let her select from the finest pumpkins Target had to offer. I am totally checking that off my list and we plan to decorate said pumpkin this weekend!
