34 weeks....

SIZE of Miss Beeman:

What did one melon say when the other melon proposed?
We're too young, we can't elope.

My baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. Babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Biggest challenges:
Not only are my feet swollen, but also my legs. I have cankles. And my left side is worse than the right> i also have pitting edema, which is where i can press in on my foot and remove my finger but the marks will remain for quite some time. As i walk around i can actually FEEL the water in my feet. If i stomp my foot i feel it shake. yeah. Not so fun. Why am i retaining all this water? i am drinking TONS of water and resting as much as possible. My lower legs and feet are sort of like playdoh. I can mold the skin from all the fluid sitting beneath. Another awesome thing i have going on is that I now have carpal tunnel in both my wrists, my right being worse than my left. I saw the doc and he put me in a wrist brace. I slept much better and did NOT wake up in the middle of the night due to throbbing pain! Rick is happy about that because I have woken up crying from the pain and made him wake up to comfort me the past few nights and last night I only got up once, at a much later time, to use the restroom!

Cravings:
Childbirth and relief!

Gender:
A little girl!

Movement:
she is still super active. I'm not very comfortable but i'll survive. I hope. She has gotten longer and i feel her in my ribs almost constantly. If she is a small baby at birth I will be shocked.

Sleep:
Last night was better. I hope this continues.

What I Miss
Comfort. My shoes. Being able to exercise and play outside. Traveling.

What i LOVE
Another baby shower and such wonderful presents. I plan to write all about them AFTER i write and send out all my thank you notes!

Emotions
I am frustrated that i'm so swollen right now. I am tired. I just can't wait for this to be over with. I presently am NOT looking forward to doing this again.

Milestone
I think we have come to terms with our home and what steps we will take next towards getting into a new home. The market is so slow due to it being a Buyers Market. Several people have LOVED our home but still, no offers. We have a few more weeks to try to sell our home. We have completed our birthing classes and i feel somewhat confident.

33 WEEKS!

I am now 33 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I have retained more water than i know what to do with it. Which means i'm swelling. I am looking forward to my massage this week.

SIZE of Miss Beeman:

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. She's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening. The bones in her skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for her to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as her brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Biggest challenges:
MY FEET are so swollen. I am feeling miserable and Rick telling me " i want to have the next one as soon as possible" makes me feel sick, but i'm sure once the baby comes i will be ready shortly. We want them close in age. But probably two years apart in school since Sloan is a summer baby and will be young for her grade. We would have to have one before September of next year to space them only one year apart in school like my sister and I. Overall this pregnancy has been great so i expected something to change.

Cravings:
i don't crave any food at this point. I hardly eat b/c of the heartburn. its so bad it makes me feel like throwing up. I crave swimming and sleep. Except sleeping hurts my arms no matter how I sleep and i wake up with both hands numb. I am so ready for better sleep, even if it only comes in spurts. I crave comfort.

Gender:
The ultrasound last week confirmed that she is still a girl!! PHEW!

Movement:
She is still moving. The cutest part is that her hands are near her face so i feel tickling in my lower pelvis where her fingers are moving. Feet to the ribs are a daily thing and my right rib burns often. I still LOVE to feel her move under my hand. She really is running out of room.

Sleep:
i am tired and i sleep but i'm not comfortable.

What I Miss.
comfort and sleep and my warddrobe

What i LOVE
I love baby showers. Rick gave me an early "push present". I told him it would be ironic if i end up with a c-section BUT if you notice below - i have quite the incentive to push this baby out the good old fashioned and natural way. I think if he picked the diamonds any bigger, i'd have run out of earlobe space to hold them!

Maternity Clothes:
same

Emotions
Still tired. I cried today at the doc. I just want this to be over now. I think the heat and swelling have a lot to do with that. I HOPE our next baby comes in April or early May (of 2013!). It will if i get to have any control over the situation

Milestone
Our first baby shower (i'll post a new one on that when i get a chance). We have another one on Thursday at WORK and i'm super excited about that!!

Sloan's "first" concert. My friend Brittanay took me to see Katy Perry last Tuesday!
I am so glad that Sloan couldn't hear the lyrics or understand them. This was a lesson to me to be sure i listen to the lyrics BEFORE i take my daughter to a concert. I did not realize how much innuendo was in Katy Perry's music. As a 30 year old i laughed and enjoyed the show, i don't think the mother with the 9 year old in front of me felt the same. "Let me see your peacock, cock cock" as she proceeded to "work " the microphone.... yeah. My friend Brittanay and i were just like Oh my!  I guess you only partially listen to lyrics and while i know some of her songs, I'm not like a die hard KP fan. I think i'm too old or something plus its not my style but i do really like KP and her story. She grew up a missionary kid, married Russel Brand, and is a great singer/performer. We loved the show. It was very nicely executed and kept our attention.
And look how close to us she was: (taken with my iphone)

14 June 2011

32 weeks! (only 8 to go!)

Here's our baby girl!

We are SO excited to see her in person! We got to see her open and close her mouth and stick her thumb in her mouth to suck :) I was a thumb sucker too. We even got to see her open her eyes which was a little eerie but still very cool. It was almost as though she was saying OK OK you saw me, now leave me alone. She then made this scrunched face as though she were crying. She responded to the sound of my voice which was... well just perfect!

Sloan is measuring a week ahead in size and 4 1/2 pounds BUT that weight estimation is 15% accurate with a .75 pound confidence limit. So statistically speaking - its a crap shoot BUT her head size and belly size are measuring big and i think that the size measurement is accurate despite the inaccuracy of the weight.

SIZE of Miss Beeman:
What the heck is a Jicama?? a Large Jicama? i'll show you what it is
looks like a potato but tastes like a turnip. So i read.
According to the "AVERAGE BABY" - By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.
AT this point does it even matter if she is the size of a Jicama? i dont' think so because i got to see her!!! Only 8 weeks to go but i still think she is going to come early!

Biggest challenges:
waiting! She is so precious and I don't even have a nursery for her because we really want to wait until the house is sold. So being patient and waiting on the house to sell is quite the challenge. But as long as we get a pack 'n play as we planned on using the first three months anyways, we will be fine. We dont' want to set up a crib twice so we will use the bassinet portion of the pack 'n play to sleep with her in our room. Also my friend said i could use her travel sleeper if we dont' get the pnp.

Cravings:
A tropical vacation and REAL sushi !

Gender:
Baby girl named Sloan Violet!

Movement:
She is moving a lot still but definitely running out of room in there. Her hands are near her face so i feel lots of movement and elbows in my lower abdomen/pelvis area. then her feet in my ribs. She isnt' moving as violently, now just slower more deliberate moving.

Sleep:
I am sleeping great aside from the fact i want to sleep on my stomach. I am so tired now!

What I Miss
Sleeping on my stomach. My closet full of clothes especially all my sundresses that won't fit over my chest... I'm not complaining but i would like some new dresses and really cannot wait to be able to wear the 100 items in my closet that i presently cannot wear.

What i LOVE
I love that i'm not starving anymore. I'm seriously so full all the time or i get hungry, i take a bite and i'm full. Its nice.
Rick and i have his children for six weeks this summer, we have had them a full week and their mother came to get them for the first weekend which we just thought was so nice of her to give us a little break. I'm not sure if that was the intention but it was well received.

Maternity Clothes:
most of the time with the exception of the things i buy in large.

Emotions
is tired still an emotion? i'm still tired. but very happy.

Milestone
we had our 3D/4D ultrasound and Sloan is really gaining weight. They are estimating her at 4.5lbs (which is 8/16 oz) already, and you really can't tell the length because she is in fetal position.. duh.
She is laying on her left side looking towards my right. Her butt is in my left rib and her hands and feet are playing on the right side. She sucks her thumb (just like her momma did). The tech said 63rd percentile. Remember how i said that I felt Sloan drop like three weeks ago - well guess what? She dropped! so we couldn't get a pic of the top of her head or her whole head, just her face because she is head down and facing the back of my body! A perfect position for delivery!

Some people are more in tune with their bodies i guess. I succinctly  remember her flipping to head down and i remember feeling her drop with the contractions I had a few weeks ago. And now we just wait. I can feel pressure on my cervix which wasn't there before. I think she is just waiting until my body can no longer hold her in! lets see nature run its course. I'm starting to get very nervous for the delivery but we have taken many classes and we will have a doula at our birth and i know it is going to be hard to do but i also know that i was made to have a child and unless there are complications (which all signs point to not) then I should be able to have this baby the good old fashioned way, just like my mom had me !!!

Anticipation!

Today was a great day. I am now seeing the OB every two weeks, and I had a great appointment. I actually LOST TWO POUNDS from the last appointment, but this is a good thing. I have not gained too too much BUT in the law of averages, one pound a week AFTER the first 10 weeks (which gives you 30 lbs) I sort of excelled in the past 8 weeks, got back on track the last 4, and now am making up for lost time. Some people gain weight differently in pregnancy. Some gain it on a gradual incline as designated in the 'charts', Some never stop gaining (and wind up still calling it "baby weight" when their youngest child is starting school), Some were so overweight that their pregnancy actually helps them LOSE weight ( i know several of these people), and some lose in the end.... I hope to be the one that loses and/or maintains because I am perfectly happy where I am now! Still under the 30 mark but I do have 59 days to go!

Here is something I saw today on Facebook. My oldest nephew Carter!
I love this kid!! He is growing up so fast! Soon he will have a little cousin to love. And i already know he loves her as much as I do by the way he talks to me about her when i call. I can't wait for Carter and Brady to come to my house and sit on the couch, patiently waiting for their turn to hold their new cousin! I bought them super hero capes as gifts from Sloan so that when they come, they feel the love! I love buying them presents. Acutally, i just love buying presents ;)

So all in all, today has been a good day. I am focusing on the love i have in my life and the good things. I had a great day yesterday going to the library (or chafferering  I should say) I had a great swim in the pool last night and ran into my friend Heather and her 2 month old daughter Lily. i love the way the pool makes me feel and rightfully so! I can walk laps and not grow tired! Though i really need to use the ladder. I successfully got out of the pool using the wall and my arms, but what a mistake that was. For fear of falling face down onto my stomach i was able to manage but the weightlessness i felt while IN the pool was not the same as how it felt as i pulled my body out of the pool. Talk about upper body strength! i did it! But i will NOT do it again. And i have a purple noodle to swim with me. I love having my own noodle and not having to steal one off some kid.

Big plans for the weekend and some relaxing to be done!  Time to head home. The Shrimp alfredo won't make itself!

Week 31!

SIZE of Miss Beeman:

FOUR NAVEL ORANGES:.... This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. She weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. She can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. She's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Biggest challenges:
OOOh, funny story. So this past weekend i went to Walmart. On the way out, i was pushing the cart to the car, and the lot was on a slight incline. i almost had to stop to rest because it took so much effort to push the cart, and it barely had anything in it. Nothing heavy. But the cart sure was heavy!

Cravings:
sleep. i crave silence and sleep.

Gender:
Baby girl named Sloan Violet!

Movement:
and i thought before she was moving a lot, what did i know. She is so active and i think because she has grown so much i can feel her more. My stomach is doing the wave. Her head is digging into my pelvis. I am so ready to get her out!

Sleep:
If only it were that easy!

What I Miss
I miss sleeping on my stomach. I miss wearing flip flops without having to think twice about whether or not they will hurt my feet (they will).

What i LOVE
I love that this is almost over!

Maternity Clothes:
same...

Emotions
I am exhausted so my patience is worn thin. Very thin. I need to sleep for a week.

Milestone
a coworker gave me some baby diapers and they are soooo small! i'm not sure my daughter will be that little. I'm serious!
And my step sons bought their sister an "Ugly Doll" at the airport.... sort of. I think Rick bought it but wanted it to be from them.  Her name is Fea Bea. Sort of fitting isn't it??

WEEK 30!

I honestly believe this baby is coming early. I had really bad contractions last week for about 2.5 days. Probably from all the walking I was doing in this heat! I spent about an hour in the pool on Monday and when i got out and my weightlessness left, i felt heavier than ever before. No wonder my feet are killing me i'm so freaking heavy! i can't believe i have 10 more weeks of this.  But as I said before, i'm pretty sure Sloan will come early. After the contractions I had, which were high, middle then low, the baby dropped. I'm not sure if she came back up or if she stayed down, but i havent' felt nearly as much kicking in my ribs. My massage therapist agreed that she has dropped. So now we just wait. She is head down (which i commented about how i felt her turn a few weeks back and noted in my blog) and now she is sitting lower. Baby Beeman is engaged.  I have a very long torso and i am anxious to see if Sloan is as long as we think she might be. Let us get back to the details:

An updated pic of ME:
Here I am in my tankini. Last week i wore the regular bikini but this week i really grew. It does feel nice to be tan though. Fat always looks better tan. And I am wearing plenty of sunscreen. Our pool is really great. I'm tempted to go down the slide but scared i might get stuck. Surely there are "normal" people bigger than me though so I guess i could try it. I still weigh less than Rick. Maybe if he comes with me i'll use the slide. It might give us a good laugh.  WE sure do laugh a ton

Enough about me, lets talk about baby Bee...

SIZE of Miss Beeman:
Head of Cabbage:.... She now weighs around 3 pounds and is 15 to 17 inches long from head to heel. A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face.

Biggest challenges:
Patience.

Cravings:
Raw Salmon....

Gender:
Baby girl named Sloan Violet!

Movement:
tons. She is active, then rests, then is active. She likes to kick me in the ribs when i'm in meetings. Rick and i cuddle at night and she kicks him a bit before i make him roll back to his side of the bed. He loves putting his hands on my stomach to feel her and he talks to her a lot. He is a wonderful daddy!

Sleep:
What's that? i can't sleep. Between bathroom breaks and heartburn i am up several times a night. Oh well. i will sleep when the baby is born (ha i know i'm dreaming). Last night i only woke up once to use the bathroom. Yay!

What I Miss
I miss sleeping and playing soccer. I'm so tired now. I can't imagine what it will be like when baby comes. I really miss sleeping on my stomach!

What i LOVE
People say i'm glowing, and i'd have to say, i'm sure the suntan helps! Being pregnant in the summer is great. My favorite makeup is a little sun on my cheeks.  I also love how Rick and I get along. We are best friends and its insane how close we are to each other. I have never in my entire life been so comfortable with another person.  We cleaned and organized our entire garage in a few hours this weekend and have a few more smaller projects to finish up this week.

Maternity Clothes:
My tankini above is a regular one in size "L". I like it. The bottoms are also regular. I just got a medium instead of my typical small as my butt was eating my other bottoms and i'm sure nobody wanted to see that. All in all, i have enough clothes to get me through to the end... i think. As much as I "want" to go shopping for new (maternity) clothes I really don't. I have to go to a dinner party at my cousins house on Saturday night and will be wearing a black dress if i can find one in my closet that fits (i only have like 4 black dresses). I'll try to get a pic of myself to share with you guys.

Emotions
is tired an emotion? because that is how i feel.. otherwise i feel good. i'm very happy. I smile way too much as it is. After all, I just like to smile, Smiling's my favorite.

Milestone
We bought a freezer for the garage because I like to stock up on sales and I want to start making extra meals for when the baby comes. Less cooking for me when she is born. I think lasagna, chicken pot pie, meatloaf, and some other stuff will be a good start. Plus my mom will come for a week or so and i'll have her cook some things for us.  Rick is now a master on the grill so he will be in charge of making dinner. I like to cut vegetables and put them on metal skewers for him to grill that way he does all the cooking! Might as well get used to it. Once the baby comes he is in charge for the first bit.

We have another 3D ultrasound on the 13th! i can't wait to see how big she is measuring and see if she really is positioned as i think she is... This is very exciting!
